Alejandra Morales, former candidate in San Nicolás, faces charges of political violence, raising concerns about political persecution ahead of the 2027 elections. MC plans to contest the ruling, claiming a lack of evidence.

Alejandra Morales Accused of Political Violence

Alejandra Morales, head of the Corporation for the Tourist Development of Nuevo León (Codetur) and former candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano for San Nicolás, is facing a judicial process for alleged political violence based on gender. A state control judge determined that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute Morales, imposing precautionary measures such as monthly signing and a prohibition from approaching the victim, Lilia Olivares, a former local deputy from PAN.

In response to this situation, Movimiento Ciudadano issued a statement accusing the State Attorney's Office of acting with political motivations, linking Morales's case to partisan interests. It was highlighted that Alejandra Morales represented a threat to the privilege system of PRIAN and that this judicial action aimed to weaken her participation in future elections, especially those of 2027.

The statement mentions Morales's strong performance in the past elections, where she came close to taking the government of San Nicolás from PAN after decades of dominance. It was emphasized that the legal process against her would be a strategy to distance her from the political contest and undermine her chances in future candidacies.

Despite the current situation, Movimiento Ciudadano plans to appeal the judicial decision, arguing that the accusations lack solid foundations and that it is an act of political persecution intended to damage the image and career of Alejandra Morales. Morales's defense will seek to reverse the situation to allow her to continue her political participation and work in public service.
